Commissioning Engineer (Mechanical or Process)
Location: Bristol
Salary: Up to £55,000 per annum
NRL are recruiting a Commissioning Engineer to support a major nuclear project in Bristol. This is an exciting opportunity to take technical ownership of key radwaste systems and play a crucial role in delivering safe, efficient commissioning activities on one of the UK’s flagship energy sites.
What you’ll be doing:
• Own 2–3 radwaste systems and act as the SME
• Develop commissioning documents for testing and system validation
• Contribute to design reviews to optimise plant layout for commissioning
• Plan and manage commissioning test programmes
• Support and execute site commissioning activities for HPC systems
• Analyse test results and produce clear technical reports
• Ensure all commissioning activities meet nuclear, environmental & safety standards
• Build strong working relationships across engineering, project delivery, MEH and operations
What you’ll bring:
• Degree, HNC, or equivalent experience in Mechanical or Process Engineering
• Proven experience in mechanical/process commissioning
• Background in a regulated industry (nuclear, utilities, oil & gas, heavy industry)
• Understanding of EPR, PWR or power station design principles
• Strong technical knowledge of process system tests (flushing, pumps, valves etc.)
• Commitment to safety and quality culture
• Excellent communication skills
• Knowledge of radioactive waste systems or fuel route processes
• Experience with commissioning, maintenance or operation of Nuclear Island systems
