Experienced Mechanical Lead (Nuclear)

Job Purpose:
The Mechanical Lead (Nuclear) is responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient execution of all mechanical activities during online maintenance and outage periods within a nuclear power plant. This role provides strong technical leadership across preventive and corrective maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, and system modifications, while ensuring full compliance with nuclear regulatory requirements, plant safety protocols, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop scopes of work, work packages, procedures, and schedules for mechanical activities
- Lead and supervise mechanical maintenance during online operations and outage periods
- Ensure adherence to preparation milestones and safe, on-time execution of work
- Oversee planning, coordination, execution, and close-out of assigned work packages
- Act as the primary point of contact for mechanical outage preparation and execution
- Coordinate with engineering teams to resolve operational issues and implement modifications
- Train and mentor technicians and junior team members on mechanical systems and best practices
- Support outage planning, execution, and post-outage evaluations, particularly related to valves
- Collaborate with Maintenance, Operations, Engineering, Radiation Protection, and Procurement teams
- Lead scheduling activities, resolve conflicts, and ensure effective communication with stakeholders
- Manage contractors and vendors to ensure quality, safety, and timely service delivery
- Drive productivity, optimize resources, control overtime, and meet schedule commitments

Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical discipline
- 7–10 years of experience in mechanical maintenance and leadership roles, preferably in a nuclear power plant or highly regulated industrial environment

Job-Specific Skills:
- Strong technical expertise in mechanical systems
- Experience with valves, actuators, pumps, compressors, and piping systems
- Expertise in operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of mechanical components
- Proficient in mechanical tools and specialized equipment for alignment, testing, and repairs
- Solid understanding of nuclear industry standards, codes, and safety requirements
- Ability to perform effectively under pressure, particularly during outage maintenance
