It depends on what kind of technical work interests you.

Can You Move Between Them?

Potentially — but this needs an important qualification.

Related does not mean automatically qualified.

An Instrument Technician with PLC experience may have a foundation for moving further into automation.

An Electrical Technician with controls experience may develop towards E&I or automation.

An E&I Technician may move towards commissioning.

But employers may still require specific qualifications, certifications, authorisations or demonstrable experience before someone can perform particular work.

The better question isn’t “Can I change my job title?”

It’s “Which skills do I already have, which skills transfer, and what gaps do I need to close?”

That’s a far more useful way to plan a technical career.
